Unlocking different income streams for artists
This is an on-going article that I’ll be completing in the future with more ways you can earn money on web3 as being an artist. So, in this first article, I share a couple of different ways you can earn money on web3, from your art, and not from your art, but from something else.
✴️ Craft and sell your art through your network
For artists, creating and selling art is the classic avenue. Yet, to turn your passion into profit, consider building a robust network. Here's a simple formula to remember:
Quality networking —>>> More opportunities —>>> More sales —>>> More income
Building connections not only enhances your exposure but also opens doors to diverse opportunities, ultimately boosting your income.
✴️ Share your expertise through masterclasses
Sharing your skills is not just altruistic; it's a good way to earn. Creating masterclasses allows you to teach your artistic skills / photography skills while also expanding your network and building a reputation. If you are great in photography or any form of art, offering masterclasses can be a different way to monetize your skills.
✴️ Monetize your X account
Majority of web3 people are yet on X, and recently the platform started to allow content creators to monetize their contents.
Currently you can monetize your X account by two different ways:
Subscriptions
Enable your followers to express their support by subscribing to you and get premium content or other benefits. When you set up subscriptions, you determine the prices, providing a direct channel for your audience to compensate you for your work you were doing for free before. You can read more about subscriptions at https://help.twitter.com/en/using-x/subscriptions
Ads revenue sharing
Maximize your earnings by getting a share of the revenue generated from verified users' organic impressions of ads displayed in response to your content on X. This passive income stream complements your creative output, adding financial value to your contributions to the space. You can read more about the Ad revenue sharing at https://help.twitter.com/en/using-x/creator-ads-revenue-sharing
✴️ Merchandise
Extend your artistic touch to merchandise. You can design and sell products such as stickers, wallpapers, postcards, mugs, t-shirts, caps, and more. These items, often inspired by your art, provide to people a tangible way to support you while engaging with your creativity.
✴️ SocialFI
In majority of SocialFIs you earn by your engagement and also by selling your keys for people to have access to your, to your content, and other benefits you can provide. Sometimes people may buy your key just as a matter of speculation, to trade your key later for a higher price than they bought. In general, you get royalties everytime your key is sold. Some examples of SocialFIs that I have experimented myself are:
Revel (If you join Revel, use the code ArtvisionNFT when you create your account, so you will get 250 coins to collect art and start your journey in Revel)
I will write a more focused article about SocialFI in the near future, where I’ll share a honest review and my impressions about each of the SocialFI platforms I have experimented so far.
✴️ Use your referee to showcase others’ art
In some marketplaces you can earn a reward of the sold price of a piece if the sale happens through a referee link you have shared. For example, on Foundation you can earn 1% of reward if a sale of a piece happens when you share the art with your referee code!
Final Remarks
In the dynamic world of web3, the possibilities for artists to monetize their work can be vast and ever-expanding. By exploring these diverse ways, you not only enhance your financial prospects but also contribute to the development of the entire ecosystem.
Remember, the journey in web3 is not just about creating art; it's also about mastering the art of making your passion financially rewarding. One of the reasons why majority of people give up on web3 is because they can't make money to keep themselves working in the web3. Embrace and experiment these different possibilities you have to earn, until you start making a living from what you love!
I'll come back in the near future again to this article and update it with more ways you can earn money on web3. Stay tuned!
