Learning from collecting art
Imagine you're not just the chef; you're also the food critic. That's what collecting art as an artist is like, and the good side is that you can start with really little money, for example, by collecting on Tezos chain (or other lowcost blockchain)! In this section I share why it's important:
Getting Skin in the Game: When you buy and collect art, you become part of the art world in a different way. You feel what it's like to invest in art with your own money. This helps you understand why people buy art and what they look for.
Thinking Like an Art Collector: Collecting art helps you think like the people who might buy your art. You start asking questions like, "What makes this art special?" or "Why would someone want to own this?" This thinking can guide you in making art that people want to buy.
Pricing Insights: Collecting art gives you a feel for what different art is worth. You'll learn why some pieces are pricier than others. This knowledge can guide you in setting prices that match your art's value.
Sales Savvy: Being a collector means you've been on the buyer's side. You've experienced what makes you pull the trigger and buy art. This can help you sell your own art better, as you understand the buyer's perspective.
Hype and Buzz: Collecting art can teach you about the importance of hype and buzz in the art world. When you see how certain art gains attention and value, you can use similar strategies to promote your own work effectively. In the case of hype, think about it organically. Artificially hyping yourself can give a counter-effect in the long-term.
Networking Opportunities: Art collecting often involves connecting with other art lovers and creators. These connections can open doors for collaborations, exhibitions, and opportunities you might not have found otherwise.
Understanding Art Collectors
Art collectors have certain reasons for buying art, and these reasons can teach you a lot:
Love and Connection: Collectors often choose art that they connect with emotionally. They want art that speaks to them or makes them feel something. When you create your art, try to make it relatable and touching.
Value and Investment: Some collectors see art as a way to invest their money. They hope the art will become worth more over time. Keep this in mind when deciding how much to charge for your art. Make sure it's valuable and unique.
Beauty Matters: Beauty is important in art. Make sure your art looks good and stands out. It's the first thing people notice.
Final Remarks
In the art world, being both an artist and a collector can be a winning combination, a game-changer in your career. Collecting art helps you get inside the minds of art buyers. By understanding what collectors look for, choosing the right places to sell your art, and pricing it fairly, you can succeed in the art world and reach your creative goals. It also exposes you to valuable networking opportunities and teaches you the importance of buzz.
So, fellow artists, consider collecting art as a way to boost your art and your career. It's your path to success!

2. @cemejn (Cemejn Limak)

After my investigations of the NFT crypto environment, I decided that my work and intentions fit perfectly on the blockchain based systems. I want to create a "gameless game" that would bring forth new ideas and themes from the building blocks of specifically prepared systems (including tarot, ASCII, I Ching, mythology & symbolism, ...). These systems would interact between themselves and create interesting complexity that would naturaly form emergent novel situations. All that is aesthetically and coherently held together by one driving vector: seek novelty without bias.

From there, he came across a genre that suited his candid style and knew that street photography was the best genre for his art. He is the winner of the Italian Street Photo Festival 2019 and his works can be seen in known publications and exhibitions. And now ventured in the Web 3.0 world.
